Mabalacat - a city in Pampanga is derived from "balacat" and refers to a fourth class timber. Mabalacat is originally occupied by the Aetas with Caragan as their leader. After Caragan Festival in 1996, Mabalacat became first class municipality. In 2013, due to the presence of various industrial establishments it became a component city. Approx. 2/3 of the area of Clark Special Economic Zone is a part of Mabalacat territory. At present (2013) the indigenous Aetas are in the hill villages of the barangays Sacobia, Marcos Village, Macapagal, Sta. Monica, Sitio Monicayo, Burug and others.
