Barangay:

Barangay is the smallest and simplest local government unit. It is consisting of “Purok” or small area. Each barangay has one elected barangay captain and seven elected barangay councilors, barangay secretary, barangay treasurer and Chairman of the youth sector (Sangguniang kabataan). The Barangay is headed by a Barangay captain. He is in charge of the governance, development planning, basic services and facilities, compliance to directives, barangay legislation, and fiscal administration. Enforce all laws and ordinances which are applicable within the barangay. Organize and lead emergency group whenever the same may be necessary for the maintenance of peace and order or on occasions of emergency or calamity within the baragay. Exercise general supervision over the activities of the youth sector. Conducts annual sports fest which shall feature traditional sports and disciplines included in national and international games, in coordination with the Department of Education, Culture and Sports. The Barangay councilors are formulating measures to eliminate drug addiction, maintain cleanliness and beautification of their area. Enacts tax and revenue ordinances, subject to the limitations imposed by Local Government Code; enact annual supplemental budgets. They maintain and promote peace and order. Promote the well being of the woman and youth rights and maintain barangay owned properties and infrastructure.
